Joyce Ann Shelton McWhorter- King

Ms. Joyce Ann Shelton McWhorter King, age 72, of Summerville, SC and formerly of Cedartown, GA passed away peacefully on Monday, April 30,2012 at her residence.

Joyce was born on October 16, 1939 in Rome GA a daughter of Rebecca Shelton Sandlin. She had lived in Cedartown for a number of years before moving to South Carolina. She had been in the restaurant business as a waitress for over 30 years. Joyce loved gardening, sewing and enjoyed painting and all types of crafts. She also loved taking care of her pets. She was of the Baptist faith.

Ms. King was preceded in death by her mother; Rebecca Shelton Sandlin, special people who were like her mother and father; Julia Newby Stephens and William Edward Stephens, her husbands, James Edward McWhorter, Sr., and Ralph King, sisters, Alma Ruth Stephens Lee and Mary Ann Crunkelton and a brother, Ed Lee.

Joyce Shelton King is survived by her sons; James Edwin McWhorter, Jr., and wife Brenda of Rockmart, GA, and Stephen David McWhorter and wife Debi of Steadman, SC, her daughter; Robin McWhorter Wallace and husband Bobby of Charleston, SC. Her grandchildren, Christopher James McWhorter and wife Jesse, Stephen Michael McWhorter and wife Brandy, Paul Morris, Jamie Morris, Joy McWhorter Henslee and husband Jamey, Phillip Jerald McWhorter, Nicholas Adam McWhorter and wife Lynn and Dale McWhorter. Eleven great grandchildren, a brother; Donnie Wade and wife Donna of Warrior, AL., sisters; Debra Ann Elkins of Warrior, AL,. She is also survived by aunts, Marilyn Shelton Smith and Ann Shelton Jackson, uncles; Charles Shelton and Wayne Shelton. A number of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Joyce Shelton King was cremated and a memorial service will be held at at later date & time.
