Mrs. Laura Helen Head, age 86, of Cedartown, GA passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 following a breif illness. Mrs. Head was born on March 20, 1926 in Cedartown, GA a daughter of the late William Andrew Johnson and the late Alma E. Chitwood Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a Infant son; James Edward Head, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She had worked in the cafeteria department for the Polk School District for twenty plus years, retiring from the Cedar Hill Middle School. She was of the Baptist faith.
Helen Head is survived by her loving husband of sixty two years, Gene Head, her sons and daughter in law; Ronald & Ann Head and Jerry Head, her daughter and son in law; Vicki & Andy Brown, her sister; Catherine Williams, her grandchildren; Rhonda Peaks, Jeremy Head, Christopher Head, Josh Head, Alex Brown, Nick Brown and Tiffany Gibson; her great grandchildren, Danelle Basham, James Cromeans, Brandon Cromeans, Lily Head, Jett Head, Ryder Head, Halen Head and Cadence Gibson; two great, great grandchildren, Tristan and Lane Basham; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Helen Head will be conducted on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Head and the Rev. Neil Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home. The following Gentlemen will serve as Pallbearers: Alex Brown, Nick Brown, Jeremy Head, Christopher Head, Josh Head and Josh Gibson. Mrs. Heads great grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
